Book Description 

Men, Women and Infertility: Intervention and Treatment Techniques is a book for medical and psychological professionals which gives concrete strategies to help patients deal with the stresses of infertility: the invasive medical treatments, the guilt, depression, shame, pessimism, anxiety, relationship and sexual problems, and assaults to self esteeem and sexual self esteem. Cognitive behavioral and imagery techniques are shown through case studies. There is a chapter on helping pregnant women patients with a prior history of miscarriage to manage their anxiety during subsequent pregnancies. There are two chapters on sexuality, looking at sexual trauma and at gender differences in how men and women react to sexuality during infertility.

About the Author 

Dr. Zoldbrod is a Boston-based psychologist and AASECT-certified sex therapist who is internationally recognized as an expert in the psychology of infertility. She has been the keynote speaker for RESOLVE Chapter conferences from Coast to Coast, and she has lectured to infertility consumers and professionals in Canada and as far away as Australia. Topics include: Coping Strategies; Imagery as a Coping Strategy; Infertility as Trauma: How to Help Patients Cope; Infertility and Sexuality; Men, Women and Infertility; and Coping with the Fear of Miscarriage. Zoldbrod was on the National Board of Directors of RESOLVE for a decade. She is the author of "Getting Around the Boulder in the Road: Using Imagery to Cope with Fertility Problems "(1990), a self help book for patients which has been highly recommended by national Resolve and ASRM.
